INTRAMA switches to green electricity

As a company providing complete packaging solutions for the food industry and the biggest producer of multi-layer barrier packaging in Bulgaria, at INTRAMA we take long-term sustainable development seriously. From sourcing to production, INTRAMA is keeping sustainability and environmental protection in mind.

Consistent in achieving its strategic goal - environmentally friendly production and nature protection for the next generations, INTRAMA switches to green electricity for the needs of its production base for flexible packaging in the Trakia Economic Zone - Plovdiv.

In 2021 the company started the construction of the first stage of a photovoltaic power plant in its base, which will cover 10% of the daily consumption of the production facility. This is the first of three stages of transition to energy from renewable energy sources. The company's plan is gradually to increase the share of green energy and reach at least 30% by the end of 2022.

The transition to energy from renewable energy sources is a result of INTRAMA's commitment and responsibility for long-term sustainable development. The company is constantly striving to follow and promote good sustainability practices and reduce the environmental footprint of its activities.

With the construction of the third stage of the photovoltaic power plant, INTRAMA will annually reduce CO2 emissions by about 150 000 kg. This approximately equals to the carbon emissions of 80 cars per year.
