INTRAMA introduces a new generation of top films for thermoforming lines and vacuum pouches

As part of its sustainability program REDUCE FOR A BETTER PLANET USE, INTRAMA introduces a technologically advanced solution for top films that combines reduced thickness with improved barrier performance.

The new LAM IN HB films replace the existing LAM IN MB structure. The change applies to the base layer of the film – the part that ensures the barrier protection of the packaged product. This base continues to be laminated in the standard way with PET (12 μm) or BOPP (20 μm), as before.

As a result, the total thickness of the final film is reduced by more than 6%, without compromising its protective properties or mechanical performance.
The new technology covers transparent and white top films for thermoforming lines, as well as films used in the production of vacuum pouches from laminated film.

This technological upgrade is part of INTRAMA’s consistent strategy to reduce raw material consumption, optimize production efficiency, and enhance the sustainability of multilayer barrier packaging solutions, while maintaining the highest quality and product protection.

With this innovation, INTRAMA once again proves that technological progress and sustainability can go hand in hand. The new LAM IN HB generation reflects the company’s long-term commitment to delivering solutions that combine high efficiency, responsible resource use, and reduced environmental impact — in line with the lont-term objective of the program REDUCE FOR A BETTER PLANET USE.

Film type Oxygen barrier (OTR) Material used per package  Reduction in material usage  Number of packages per 1kg of film Increase in number of packages
LAM IN HB  <5 1,4g 7,9% 714 8,5%
LAM IN MB <35 1,52g   658

*Used package sizes for calculations: 130mm / 150mm

Key benefits:

More packages produced from the same amount of film

   Improved product protection

Less virgin material used for the same production volume
